Party time, excellent.
YES. YES. FINALLY. YES.
WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 19, 2012
Today I skipped African dance in order to hang out on the terrace with Erica and friends. Best decision.
Going to Madison for fun work project? Check.
Seeing Kelly in the middle of the week? Double check.
That plus the terrace and the Old Fashioned? I was in heaven.
30 Day Challenge: The Sleep Cycle
The last month has been a pretty big one. I left Ann Arbor and moved to Chicago, leaving behind lots of great friends but picking up some wonderful old ones with the move. I’ve spent the past month buying furniture, figuring out bus routes, dining out, hanging photos and art, running by the lake and generally being excited and scared and thrilled about living in Chicago now.
Now that things have settled down a bit, though, I think I’m going to try to spice things up a bit. Matt Cutts (famed engineer from Le Goog) does a 30-day challenge designed to do just that: spice it up. The challenges range from going vegan to not answering emails after 10 pm to exercising every day, so they obviously vary a lot.
I think my first challenge is going to be around sleep - I often dilly dally around at night and end up staying awake and cutting myself short on sleep. So to nip that in the bud, I’m going to make my first challenge about sleeping better. It’s going to be a combination of getting to bed (and hopefully to sleep) before 11 and also reading a book/magazine before sleeping.
Here goes nothin’!
Just a standard walk to work. (I moved to Chicago.)
Well, I think that’s shitty. And not very fun. Where’s your sense of adventure, Words With Friends?
Frank Ocean on Jimmy Fallon
I am just totally obsessed with this song and this performance. I can’t believe how good he is live, can’t believe how great he is at songwriting, can’t handle how pumped I am to see him at Lolla.
How to create an America playlist.
It must include both versions of American Woman (The Guess Who and Lenny Kravitz).
It also includes Whitney Houston’s infamous Star Spangled Banner… which I may or may not have listened to on repeat while assembling the playlist.
And it’s titled ‘Murica.
My work is done here.
Actually my favorite.
